SAMPLE OFFSET WRAP
CALCULATOR for OKTALYZER X&Z
sample offset wrap calculator
A free online tool for the 9xx sample offset effect of OKTALYZER v1.57x and v1.57z, THE DESTROYER's edit of the classic 8-channel Amiga tracker by Armin Sander. Every step of 9xx moves the start of the note 512 bytes into the sample, and in OKTALYZER X&Z the offset wraps around: past the end of the sample it starts again from the beginning with the difference.
Type your sample length to see how many different start points you get, pick one of the golden lengths, and read the 9xx value where every lap of the wrap starts, with the byte it lands on.
Golden lengths
Cutting a sample to 255 times a power of two (2040, 4080, 8160, 16320, 32640 or 65280 bytes) gives an even grid of 255 slots. A length that is a multiple of 512 gives no new points with the wrap.
